The Holy Spirit and the rabbit warrens of my mind.

The Leader and the Kiwi bird.
Earlier this week I was meditating on the scripture from Isaiah 40:31
                They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength,
                they will soar on wings like eagles;
                They will run and not grow weary,
                They will walk and not faint.

 In line with this,- as you tend to do when you are meditating and you end up going down various rabbit warrens in your mind, I began to think about the renewing of your mind and what it (your mind) is there for.  Romans 12:2
                Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world
                but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
                Then you will be able to test and prove what God's will is,
                his good , pleasing, and perfect will.

Then, for some unknown reason  my meditating complex thought patterns  went down another rabbit warren in my mind and I began to think of the national bird of my home country New Zealand. It's the flightless Kiwi bird. This bird has a short stout body, it stands about 18 inches tall, has large feet, a long neck and a long thin beak.

As a Christian leader what can I glean from these three random musings now that I have emerged from the rabbit warrens of my mind?
1.       There is a great need in these fast moving, ever changing world to spend more and more time waiting on God. The need to ensure that we are always fresh in our presentation, always clear on our direction.
2.       That I need to be transformed by the renewing of my mind so that I can test and prove what God's good and pleasing and perfect will. That I can bring this divine revelation to those that I can influence. I have to resist removing my mind from the equation.
3.       Kiwi birds are ground dwellers, they forage in the leaf litter and in the shadows of the forest. As a leader I need to recognise that  rather than be bogged down by the  issues and problems of my church or ministry vocation and calling. Instead I need to soar like the eagle in the clear , fresh blue sky looking down , being the visionary, overseeing those that have been raised to leadership dealing with them.
