More leadership musings.
As a continuation from the last time I posted, I am looking
back on those things that have instilled themselves in me and congealed to help
shape what I believe with regard to Christian Leadership enjoy:
There is a dark side to Christian Leadership it's called
paranoia I don't want to go there because it eats a leaders soul like a canker.
When training other leaders and encouraging them to develop
programmes then I say " Go for it". If it goes well we all look good.
If it goes wrong I need to be big enough to carry the can.
Christian leaders need to be long in the ears and short in
the mouth, not the other way round.
When at a conference and you are the guest speaker, spend as
much time as you can talking to people who have paid to be at the conference,
not just your hosts. Only use the green room when you arrive.
People like to know that their leaders are human and get
things wrong from time to time.
When making an urgent decision and time is not on your side
don't hesitate, even if you don't have all the information. Indecisiveness can
send the wrong signals. If you get it wrong correct it.
If you are obese unfit and sit at your desk all day you are
not a great Leader, that goes for church leadership.
Have fun being a church leader it makes everything else so
much more enjoyable.
Do real life with people, don't be one thing at the office
another at home and still another on the golf course.
Always esteem others greater than yourself. Without them you
could not be the leader you are.
